Stall detection for 1-phase synchronous motors

With capacitor motors, a blockage can usually be recognised by a significant increase in the motor current.

Due to the design of synchronous motors, blocking can only be recognised by the increase in the auxiliary phase voltage.

Blockages in motors and gearboxes should always be avoided because they can shorten the service life or lead to damage.

In some applications, however, this is not always possible. Rotek has therefore developed a simple circuit that detects blockages in single-phase synchronous motors.
