LOW-COST ELECTRONICS
Rotek offers the Romotion with integrated control electronics as standard. However, not every application requires complex control options; a solid standard solution is often sufficient. Often only a relatively simple speed control and change of direction of rotation is required, e.g. in fans, pumps or for turning the drum in rotary heat exchangers. For these cases, Rotek offers its customers the low-cost L44 control electronics developed for the Romotion by partner company ebetec from Austria.
Sensorless operation
The motor controller for 24 V DC works without sensors and utilises the so-called back EMF for commutation. Therefore, Hall sensors in the motor can also be dispensed with here, which makes the drive cost-effective. The speed setpoint is specified via a voltage input from 0 to 10 V. There is also a 10 V digital input for the direction of rotation. Finally, there is an open collector output for speed monitoring with 2 pulses per revolution. A power output of up to 100W / 4A is possible.
Significantly less space required
The L44 control electronics are moulded and sealed directly in the housing using the "hot melt" process. This is integrated in the connection cable of the motors. This means that no additional slot, installation space, housing or control cabinet is required. This significantly reduces the amount of space and wiring required, while remaining flexible and cost-effective. The electronics are also optimally protected against environmental influences.
ALTERNATIVE ELECTRONICS
However, we can also offer another inexpensive alternative if required.

Functions and advantages
Romotion 44 with low-cost electronics L44
- Setpoint specification and operation are carried out via IOs or analogue voltages.
- Motor controller for brushless DC motors that are operated sensorless / BEMF (BackElectroMotiveForce).
- The very compact control electronics are integrated in the connection cable of the motors.
- The controller is adapted to the respective application and the drive motor used.
- Possible operating modes: Speed controller or speed regulator (must be defined in advance)
- Speed controller: the speed is monitored and readjusted by the higher-level system
- Speed controller: the controller adjusts the speed within the feasible range and keeps it stable.
- Operation as a 4-quadrant controller is possible. The control electronics can both brake and accelerate - a short-circuit brake is also possible.
- All electronic components used are selected to the highest possible industry standards.
- Durable because no components are used that can age (e.g. electrolytic capacitors).
Useful For simple drive tasks
Higher, faster, further - that is the motto in many areas of life. And yet there are always cases where a solid standard solution is sufficient.
Rotek worked together with its partner Ebetec to be able to make an adequate offer here too. The result: Romotion drives with simpler control electronics.
