Replaces Berger-Lahr motors
Schneider Electric is discontinuing production of the RSM 828 to 884 series of synchronous motors known under the Berger Lahr brand. This is because the company's focus has shifted. These motors are used, for example, in measurement and control technology as actuators for valves and flaps, in equipment and apparatus engineering, in label dispensers and analysers, in access systems and supermarket barriers or in dosing pumps.
ROTEK can supply identical motor
The good news is that we have the right solution for customers looking for a practically identical replacement. The motors in the Robase series correspond to the motors in the RSM series from Berger Lahr, but have a slightly higher output power. The frequency design available from Berger Lahr with the same capacitor for operation at 50 and 60 Hz is standard for the Robase. The Robase is available for all common nominal voltages. Robase motors are available with four poles (1500 rpm) or six poles (1000 rpm), with stranded wires or terminal box and in protection classes IP40 or IP55. All motors are designed for continuous operation as standard. Special windings for increased output power in short-time operation are available on request.
Thanks to the consistent integration into the modular system, the customer can also replace previously used motors, e.g. from Berger Lahr, with motors from the Rosync series without any design measures and save energy at the same time. Or, if a drive is required for exceptionally noise-critical applications, for the particularly quiet-running Roslyde motors.
Simple replacement
The following Robase models correspond to the reversible synchronous motors (RSM) from Schneider Electric:
828/3 = Robase 36
842/3 = Robase 46
856/3 = Robase 66
884/3 = Robase 86

Suitable spur gearboxes G and W
Robase and Berger Lahr RSM with spur gearbox
Rotek also has an identical alternative for the popular G helical gearbox series from Berger Lahr with its G series. Both gearboxes have shaft seals, proven sintered plain bearings, lifetime lubrication and are designed for a continuous torque of 6 Nm. However, the Rotek gearbox allows a considerably higher radial load of 120 N. Rotek has a wide range of available ratios from 5:1 to 1333:1 in its programme and also offers reinforced versions of the gearbox for higher torques.
With a simple adapter and the Rotek gearbox type W, the design is identical to the gearbox type P from Berger Lahr. For particularly noise-sensitive applications, we can manufacture the first gear stage in highly damping hard fabric. In general, the Berger Lahr motors are best compared with the Robase.
Depending on the requirements, motors from the Roslyde or Rosync series may also be useful. The customer can then utilise the special properties of the energy-efficient Rosync or the low-vibration and quiet-running Roslyde.
