20 years of “Partnership Environment Company”
In October 2023, over 100 trees were planted by employees on company premises and private land in Bremen and Bremerhaven. The campaign was the highlight and finale of the campaign weeks to mark the 20th anniversary of “Partnership Environment Company”
The idea originated among the member companies, who wanted to use this campaign as a sign of their joint commitment to greater environmental and climate protection in the state of Bremen. In Bremerhaven, im-jaich Boardinghouse took part in the campaign by planting a tree and ROTEK GmbH & Co. KG took part in the campaign by planting 10 trees. As Rotek is currently in the process of building an extension, it was unfortunately not possible to plant the trees on the company premises. However, employees quickly volunteered to plant the trees in their private gardens.
Planting trees is one of ten key measures for adapting to climate change. “Trees in the city have a cooling effect in the hot months by providing shade and evaporating water,” explains State Councillor Jan Fries from the Senator for the Environment, Climate and Science. There are around 74,000 street trees in Bremen. There are also around 90,000 trees in green spaces. New urban trees are being actively planted as part of projects such as “Green First”. But space is at a premium. “Existing roads, cycle paths and footpaths, bus stops, traffic lights and lampposts, as well as gas and sewage areas need space and reduce suitable areas for planting in urban areas. This makes it all the more valuable when companies show social responsibility and provide space for trees.”
Member of the “Partnership of Environmental Companies”
ROTEK has been a member of this network(‚Partnerschaft Umwelt Unternehmen’). since May 2008. The corporate network “Partnerschaft Umwelt Unternehmen” was set up in 2003 by the Bremen Environment Department. It now has over 220 active members, around 40 of whom come from Bremerhaven. What they all have in common is their active commitment to corporate environmental and climate protection, which goes far beyond the legal requirements.
