January 2013: Gear series for a wide range of applications
Rotek is expanding its range with new special gears from 10 up to 40 Nm for a variety of applications. The individual gears will be launched on the market gradually. The gear with up to 10 Nm has ball bearings throughout and a particularly high-quality design. It allows transmission ratios of up to 375:1 and is available as of the summer.
As a cost-effective alternative from our partner SPG, the flat gear with up to 20 Nm provides transmission ratios of up to max. 1827:1. It is available with both a solid and hollow shaft. The flat gear with up to 30 Nm is an extremely robust gear with a hollow ball bearing shaft. The die casting moulds for this are currently under construction. Market launch will be in the autumn. The first prototypes of the flat gear with up to 40 Nm are already available.
October 2012: SPG flat gear with 100 Nm
The new series FB flat gears transmit high torque with a low overall length and fit perfectly into SPG's standard range of motors. Designed for torques of up to 100 Nm, they reach speeds of 4 to 60 revolutions per minute. They have hollow or solid shafts with a diameter of 20 mm.
The maximum permissible shaft is 4000 N radial and 1000 N axial. SPG supplies the series FB flat gears with single- and three-phase 25 to 180 W IP54-rated motors with terminal boxes.
April 2012: Rotek now has another agency in India
Drive Automation & Solutions is now operating as a second sales partner in India. The company is owner-managed and has its headquarters in Pune, 160 km from Mumbai. Six project engineers and six further sales engineers work there. There are two branch offices in Surat and Ahmedabad. November 2011: Rotek presents the prototype of a robust flat gear with hollow shaft on the SPS/IPC/Drives
This new gear for torque of up to 40 Nm has primarily been developed for the pellet market. With a length of 130 mm and width of 102 mm, the robust gear extends the area of application of all Rotek motors in places where there is a lack of space. In connection with the ROSYNC DC motors and frequency converters it is also ideally suitable for all kinds of material handling applications. Its compact construction and the transfer of high torque open up lots of new areas of application.
Rotek will be exhibiting a prototype of this drive at the SPS, and series production should start in a year.
July 2011: New Rotek representatives in Switzerland and France
Since 1st June Geoelectric in Arlesheim near Basel is the Rotek partner in Switzerland. In France, BOHEZ Concept & Support SA in Lyon will assume the sale of Rotek motors from 1st August.
July 2011: Blockage detection for single-phase synchronous motors
With capacitor motors it is usually possible to detect a blockage by a clear increase in engine current. With single-phase synchronous motors a blockage can only be detected, due to the construction, by increasing the auxiliary phase voltage. In general, blockages of motors and gears should be avoided, because they could shorten the life-span or lead to damage.
In some applications, however, this is not always possible. As a result Rotek has developed a simple circuit which recognises blockages on single-phase synchronous motors. We will be happy to provide our customers with this circuit diagram on request.
March 2011: Rotek is now also represented in the Czech Republic and Slovakia
Powergate Tranovice has recently joined us as our representative for the Czech Republic and Slovakia. At the international AMPER Trade Fair from 29.03 - 01.04.2011 in Brno, ROTEK motors will be on show in the Czech Republic for the first time. Powergate will be at stand F 069a.
March 2011: Delivery situation due to the current events in Japan
The earthquake in Japan triggered a chain of catastrophes which have hit the country and the population hard. At the moment it is still unclear how the situation there will develop. We hope that things will take a turn for the better, in particular for the people who live there.
We are not expecting any supply shortages for our ROTEK motors due to production losses in Japan. On the one hand we have extensive supplies for production and on the other hand we have received all-clear messages from diverse suppliers about their delivery capabilities.
There are also no signs of delivery difficulties at the moment with the SPG motors from Korea which are part of our delivery program. However, as it is still unclear how the situation in Japan will develop, we recommend dispatching in advance and liberally to be on the safe side.
November 2010: The new flat gear Z - high transmission with small dimensions
The new flat gear Z transmits high torque, has small dimensions and forms a compact drive unit together with motors of up to 30 W.
It allows torque of up to 15 Nm in continuous operation and 20 Nm at peak loads. With gear ratios of i=30:1 to i=3000:1, speeds of 50 to 0.33 Upm can therefore be achieved.
It can be combined with both the energy-saving small motors of the ROSYNC range as well as with all other synchronous motors from the ROTEK module range.
September 2010: Kooperation with Ruhrgetriebe
In order to expand the existing modular systems with new worm gears Rotek is now working together with Ruhrgetriebe. This gives us another experienced partner, who ideally suits our business philosophy and combines flexibility with a high level of quality.
The structurally-identical worm gear “SN18” from Ruhrgetriebe will replace the Rotek built "S" type. The series itself retains the standard Rotek type names.
Further advantages of the cooperation are: Smaller worm gears with many new versions are now also available. The range of available speed ratios has increased and there are also designs with a hollow shaft.
May 2010: 10 years of ROTEK – that calls for a celebration
In 2000, ROTEK took on the business from Hasselbach & Kausch Elektrokleinmotoren GmbH and has now been successfully established on the marked for a decade. This was appropriately celebrated on 7th May 2010.
February 2010: On 16th February the small motor manufacturer ROTEK from Bremerhaven received the ‘preis umwelt unternehmen: Nordwest 2009’ award along with the 35,000 Euros prize money at the Bremen Schauspielhaus theatre. Rotek GmbH & Co. KG was nominated for its energy saving motor ROSYNC and the GreenDrive Technology. The jury viewed the GreenDrive Technology as an innovative new development, which can save considerable amounts of energy thanks to its wide range of applications. Therefore ROTEK received another award and 10,000 Euros of prize money in the category ‘Energy’.

October 2009: The Oscar of the automation industry will be awarded at the SPS/IPC/Drives fair in Nurnberg. Manufacturers can apply with innovative products of their own. A jury of the VDMA, ZVEI and the editors of the specialist magazine Elektro Automation has nominated ten products for the AUTOMATION AWARD 2009 from a selection of 78 products. We are delighted that Rosync is amongst the top ten. During the trade fair the visitors will be able to choose their favourite from these „Top 10 products“. We are looking forward to the final result in January 2010.
July 2009: ROTEK now uses electricity which is exclusively produced by hydro-electric power. This decision was taken due to the desire to deal with energy in a sustainable manner. The certificate guarantees that the electricity comes from renewable energies. The electricity is produced by hydro-electric power plants in Norway, which were only started up less than six years ago. It is introduced into the European electricity grid and has been certified according to the International RECS standard. Last but not least the development of ROSYNC means that there is more and more focus on energy efficiency and environmental protection.

July 2009: 25 years of Hasselbach & Kausch Elektrokleinmotoren GmbH: Our predecessor company Hasselbach & Kausch Elektrokleinmotoren GmbH was founded on 10.07.1984 by Paul Hasselbach and Hans-Werner Kausch. They developed the fundamental program of synchronous motors and spur gear motors which we were able to build on. Approximately one year later the company sold its first motor. In 1986 the first two employees were hired, followed by a move to the current location in 1999 due to a lack of space. In 2000 the Treusch family took over the company from Paul Hasselbach and founded ROTEK as a successor company.
June 2009: ROTEK is a member of the energy efficiency export initiative of the [German] Federal Government and the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology. With the first small ROSYNC energy-saving motor the company makes a significant contribution to save energy and to protecting the environment. An aim of the initiative is for „Energy efficiency - Made in Germany” to be perceived even stronger as a central quality mark for German products and services abroad. German products and brands should become synonymous with energy efficiency and quality in many countries thanks to the export initiative. To date approx. 600 German companies are members of this network.
Januar 2009: ROTEK GmbH & Co. KG has new sales partners in Denmark, Switzland, Israel, India, Spain and Poland. The successful cooperation with the OEM Group continues in 2008. Until now they have represented ROTEK in Scandinavia and Great Britain. The company has now managed to add OEM Poland, based in Warsaw, as a sales partner. In November 2008 SAFER in Spain, which also represents SPG there, presented ROTEK motors at a trade fair in Madrid for the first time in the Spanish market. That means that ROTEK now is represented in 25 countries.
November 2008: At SPS/IPC/Drives, from 25-27 November 2008, ROTEK and the Korean manufacturer SPG exhibit together. ROTEK presents its new ROSYNC, energy-saving motor, which is available since November as the more powerful version KM65/85-4. The smaller variant KM65/42-4 was launched on the market at the start of 2008. SPG exhibits its standard range of gear motors. This includes a wide range of AC motors, standard DC motors with a high starting torque and good efficiency level, particularly compact BLDC motors with a long life-span and split pole motors as low cost alternatives where a high starting torque is not required. The SPG range covers standard applications, whereas ROTEK has specialised in special requests for customised applications.
March 2008: ROTEK GmbH & Co. KG is now also a member of the „partnerschaft umwelt unternehmen“ (puu), an environment partnership network. Business enterprises in the state of Bremen have joined together with environmental agencies in this network to improve the quality of the environment and local area. Membership in the puu is also a kind of seal of approval for the companies involved, because becoming a member requires that the company's own products and services make a significant contribution to protecting the environment. ROTEK was accepted because it developed the first small ROSYNC energy-saving motor.
February 2008: Since the start of the year the new ROSYNC energy-saving motor has been in serial production. The motor has a high savings potential. Its efficiency level has been increased to 70 per cent, whereas asynchronous motors with the same output are at around 50 per cent. Furthermore, the power output on the ROSYNC series has been increased by around 40 per cent compared with the conventional SM65 series, which allows even more compact drive solutions than previously.
January 2008: ROTEK GmbH & Co. KG has expanded its production capacity once again. After initially needing to increase the size of its operation to 1000 square metres in autumn 2006, Rotek added another 25 percent to this area in 2007 by means of an extension. The reason for this is the production of the new highly efficient ROSYNC small electric motor. The synchronous motor series went into serial production at the start of 2008 and more space was needed for this purpose.
October 2006: From October 2006 the new Rotek GmbH & Co. KG full feature catalogue is available. On 51 pages, the manufacturers technical information includes details of efficient and compact synchronous motors (SM65) up to 30W output power and a large range of gearboxes. The improved offering of spur and two series of planetary gearboxes complete the range. You can order the catalogue by mail or you can download the complete catalogue (PDF) here
